Community Impact
The Community Impact of Tien VO MD
The philanthropic legacy of Tien VO MD is measured not in awards or accolades — though he has received many — but in the lives changed, the meals delivered, the tests administered, and the students empowered. From the earliest days of his medical career in Imperial Valley, Dr. Vo has understood that a physician’s responsibility extends beyond the clinic walls and into the community itself.
CRISIS RESPONSE
Pandemic Response: 27,000+ Tests and Counting
When COVID-19 struck Imperial County in early 2020, the region was uniquely vulnerable. A farming community along the California-Mexico border with a largely Latino and low-income population, Imperial County quickly became the state’s hardest-hit area.
Dr. Tien Vo and his wife, a nurse practitioner, responded with extraordinary urgency. Beginning on March 23, 2020, their clinics launched drive-through testing operations in Calexico that would eventually process more than 27,000 coronavirus tests.
His efforts were recognized nationally. The Associated Press featured his story under the headline “Rock star doctor tackles virus on California-Mexico border.”
Student Health Screenings
Under Dr. Vo’s leadership, Legacy MD Medical Group has conducted nearly 200 physical examinations for students at Imperial High School. These screenings provide essential preventive care to young people who might otherwise go without.
Food Security and Disaster Relief
The foundation and Legacy MD Medical Group have partnered with Brawley Feed The Need (BFTN), an organization that serves nearly 14,000 meals annually to food-insecure residents of the Imperial Valley.
Veterans Support
Dr. Vo holds deep respect for military service and sacrifice. The foundation and Legacy MD Medical Group have contributed a $1,500 donation to VFW Post 9305 in Imperial and participated in the 12th Annual Imperial Valley Memorial Day Walk.
Cultural Enrichment
Reflecting Dr. Vo’s lifelong commitment to cultural preservation, the foundation has sponsored traditional Chinese Dragon Dance performances at local schools and supported the Calexico Little League Wolfpack team.
